Drink Driver Was “Not In Good Frame Of Mind” After Attending A Party
It has been reported that woman suffered a panic attack whilst being arrested for drink driving after she drove home from a party.
The 36 year old driver, Emma Jones, pleaded guilty to drink driving when she appeared at North Devon Magistrates’ Court.
The police came involved with Ms Jones whilst they were en route to another incident. During their journey, one of the officers was asked to check on the car she was driving.
At around 2.30am, police then saw Ms Jones’ car parked in a lay-by, with Ms Jones inside.
When police approached the car Ms Jones got out, seemed unsteady on her feet and her speech was slurred.
When asked, she admitted that she had been to a party and had drunk a can of lager and a can of cider.
When questioned further, Ms Jones said: “I have been at a party in Hartland but I haven’t done anything wrong. I don’t think I hit anybody.”
Ms Jones then became increasingly nervous and started pacing around her car.
When breathalysed, she gave a reading of 42mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
The current legal limit for drink driving is 35mg.
Following due mitigation, Ms Jones was disqualified from driving for 12 months and fined £120.
